Futuro y Condicional
What will happen and what would happen
The future and conditional are built the same way: take the full infinitive and add a set of endings. Both share the same set of irregular stems, so learning one gives you the other almost for free.
Futuro simple
Use the future to talk about events that will happen, or to express probability in the present ('Serán las cinco' — 'It must be five o'clock'). Endings: -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án, added to the infinitive.
Condicional
Use the conditional for hypothetical situations, polite requests, and the future-in-the-past ('Dijo que vendría'). Endings: -ía, -ías, -ía, -íamos, -íais, -ían.
Shared irregular stems
A handful of verbs use a modified stem in both tenses: tener → tendr-, salir → saldr-, hacer → har-, decir → dir-, poder → podr-, querer → querr-, saber → sabr-.
