estar (conjugado) + gerundio del verbo principal.
• -ar → -ando: hablar → hablando • -er / -ir → -iendo: comer → comiendo, vivir → viviendo

Gerundios irregulares
• leer → leyendo, oír → oyendo, construir → construyendo (i entre vocales → y) • dormir → durmiendo, morir → muriendo (o → u) • pedir → pidiendo, servir → sirviendo, decir → diciendo (e → i) • ir → yendo
Uso en español vs. inglés
En español el progresivo es MÁS RESTRINGIDO que en inglés. Se usa casi solo para lo que sucede AHORA MISMO. No se usa para:
• futuros: «I'm leaving tomorrow» → «Salgo/me voy mañana», no «Estoy saliendo mañana». • hábitos o estados: «I'm studying at university» → «Estudio en la universidad».
Para acciones habituales, el presente simple ya basta.
